Who we are

At the FRANSCHHOEK SPCA, we believe that animals, as living, feeling, sensitive creatures, have a value beyond economic measurement and are entitled to legal, moral and ethical consideration and protection. Our aim is the prevention of cruelty to animals and to provide a place of safety and care for all animals in distress. SPCA work encompasses all animals, including wildlife, equine and farm animals, marine life and animals used for experimentation. We are a non-profit organisation not funded by the government, and rely on the general public for financial support.

The Franschhoek SPCA is situated at 6 La Provence St, Groendal, Franschhoek.

We deal with all cruelty reports as well as pre- and post-home inspections and general proactive work. We cover the entire Stellenbosch municipality. We work predominantly in Franschhoek and the surrounding valley, but in emergencies we go as far as Caledon, Villiersdorp and Greyton. We also work closely with the Cape of Goodhope SPCA, who helps us take care of larger animals. We run regular free clinics including the sterilisation of male and female dogs and cats.
